1. Who sets up graduation requirements?
ANSWER: We have determined Kenai Classical graduation requirements based on state standards and university entrance requirements.
2. What about NCAA scholarships?
ANSWER: We will be meeting the "core course" requirements, but it will be up to NCAA to accept these credits.
3. Will there be a math placement test?
ANSWER: Yes, we will be offering a math placement test following acceptance.
4. Will you be providing the necessary Alaska History 0.5 credit?
ANSWER: We will be organizing a 0.5 credit Alaska History course. Due to specific hour-requirements, this will be offered as a stand-alone elective. This course (if approved) would be fundable by IDEA or Connections.
5. Will you be offering PE as required by Alaska?
ANSWER: We will not be offering PE, nor will PE be required for Kenai Classical graduation. It is encouraged as a part of the 6 required elective credits (and may be fundable through IDEA or Connections).
6. Will you be offering the required health course?
ANSWER: We will be organizing a health course offered during select academic years as a stand-alone elective. This course (if approved) would be fundable by IDEA or Connections.
7. Will you offer Practical Arts or Creative Arts?
ANSWER: We will be offering as many electives as we are able. These courses (if approved) would be fundable by IDEA or Connections.
8. Will students qualify for the UA scholars award?
ANSWER: Due to the "class standing" requirement, Kenai Classical may not have enough student enrollment to have the required class-standing percentage. In this case, an IDEA or Connections program graduation might meet this requirement while maintaining enrollment with Kenai Classical.
9. What about KPC jump start?
ANSWER: Students are welcome to take dual-credit courses as long as they do not conflict with the daily academic schedule. These courses may count as elective credits towards graduation, but they will not replace core course credits.
10. Will you require vaccinations?
ANSWER: No. You are welcome to upload a State of Alaska Waiver located on our enrollment page in lieu of vaccination records.
11. Is there a dress code?
ANSWER: Yes, there is. Click here for more info.
12. What about Connections or IDEA funding?
ANSWER: Families are welcome to dual-enroll with Connections or IDEA. Please use the links to find out more about these organizations.
