Statement of Faith
The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, our Lord:
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
He descended into hell;
the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy *catholic church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body,
And the life everlasting.
*Catholic is derived from the Latin word catholicus and the Greek word katholikos, literally meaning "universal." It originally was applied to all Christians as part of the universal church in the way that we are all members of the body of Christ.
On Life and Human Identity
Kenai Classical believes that all human life is sacred and that we are created in the image of God.
We are called to defend and protect that life in all its stages, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and any other condition from conception through natural death.
Each person is created as male or female beautifully and immutably by God. (Gen. 1:26-31, 2:18-25, 5:1-2) These are two distinct and complementary genders that together reflect the image and nature of God. Rejecting one’s biological gender is a rejection of the image of God in that person and a sin against God.
Kenai Classical believes that “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Gen. 2:18-25, Matt. 19:4-6).
Kenai Classical believes that God intends sexual intimacy to be limited to a man and a woman married to each other and that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication,
homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and pornography) is sinful.
